Am9 – 1st position
We know this chord already from variation 2.
G6 -3rd position
This chord looks like a G major barre chord without a barre. Make sure that both B- and E-string can ring freely.
Fmaj7/#11 -7th position
Now we make a wide jump from the 3rd fret to the 7th fret to come to this nice little Fmaj7 voicing. Make sure that your 2nd finger will mute the E-string. B-string and E-string ring open throughout the chord.
E Phrygian - 8th position
This is a truly secret chord. There is lots of tension between the tones in this voicing. We hear this chord as a major chord although the third (G#) is not played. There is a flat 9 interval (dissonance) between the low E-string and the tone F on the A-string. This is why we call this chord Phrygian. Additionally there is another dissonance between the tone F and the open E-string (major 7 interval). And finally we have a tritone between F and note B and B-string.
