Watch the The Finger Lakes: 1 online guitar lesson by Tommy Emmanuel from Little by Little
Before I play I just want to tell you a little bit about how I wrote this song. I was in area in Upstate New York called the Finger Lakes. If you saw it from the air, it looks like the hand of God came down and scratched out five of these huge lakes.
I stood at the edge of one of those lakes very early one morning and just closed my eyes and imagined going through the water in a canoe and mist coming off the water. Then I tried to capture the feeling of being there in music.
I've actually changed a few things about the song as time has gone on to make it a little more interesting for me to play. This song is not an easy song to play, so you must have a lot of patience with this one.
This is another one of those songs that I suggest you use a metronome to keep it all in time, as it kind of unfolds quite slowly. It's a wonderful song to play though, and I really enjoy playing it.
