Watch the Papa George: 9 online guitar lesson by Tommy Emmanuel from Little by Little
Papa George is George Harrison. The Musical Papa of many of us in many ways. I never had the pleasure of playing with George, but I did meet him once at a studio in London and he was very nice. I'm such a big fan of his writing, so I tried to incorporate some of the ideas that George used in this song.
For instance, sometimes he would not finish a phrase at the end of a verse. Sometimes he would not finish it on the root note; he would leave it on the third of the chord that he was in. So I do that at the end of each phrase, and you'll find that I end on the third.
It's a tribute to George. It's a way of me honoring him and saying that I've learned a lot from him. I love the way he writes and love the way he plays. I'll just play it through as I wrote it then we will decipher what's going on here so you can learn how to play it.
