Watch the Tenochtitlan online guitar lesson by Stephen Bennett from Harp Guitar Repertoire
You've gotta love the sound that results from the opening phrases of Tenochtitlan. The way the notes ring one into the other is mesmerizing to me. Those notes by themselves are cool enough – but add in the extra dimension to the sound that is specific to the harp guitar (as opposed to a regular guitar) – the generation of overtones that also ring into each other to create a shimmering wall of sonic magic. Did I just say "shimmering wall of sonic magic"? I guess I did.
You don't like it? I'll happily entertain your alternate suggestions as to how to describe what happens when you play this music correctly. I'm waiting.
