I very much love the tension created by the initial D major over the C sub-bass -- at 0:16 -- then that tension resolves with the following chords.
Then there is another tension created by the G major over the C sub-bass -- at 1:30 -- and this time it leads into different tensions that are created by different chords over the sub-basses.
The creating and releasing of tension is a potent musical tool.
