This piece came into being by my trying to play a melodic line over a repeating, descending bass line. This idea constitutes the main ideas in the verses. I'm thinking the following changes for the verse:
Gm / C7 / three times
Eb7 D7 / Gm D7
Gm / C7 / three times
Eb7 D7 / Gm
Over top of that harmonic structure, the melody is composed out of a G blues (or pentatonic minor) scale. That would mean the notes G, Bb, C, D and F are great choices. C# wouldn't be bad either, and Eb certainly works when that chord is happening.
