Watch the Exercise 7 online guitar lesson by Muriel Anderson from Fingerstyle Essentials

This is one that I recorded on my Heartstrings CD. It’s a little harder than some of the others, but is really easier than it sounds! Even though you’re playing all three parts at once, when you work it out a little at a time with the correct right hand fingering, each part is completely do-able. I play it here using the entire D position. When I play it in concert I may use a pull-off from one of the 6th intervals, and in this case I depart from the D position to grab the notes with two fingers instead of a bar.

Also out of the full D position is one of my compositions “It Never Gets Easier.” I’ll play a little of this for comparison.
