Watch the Open D Tuning Part 2 online guitar lesson by Richard Gilewitz from Fingerscapes

This lesson refers to the language of the left hand including very simple two finger positions on pairs of strings. When referred to as one might refer to a menu, these positions can be combined for great effect, especially when a multitude of right hand patterns are utilized. Avoid the temptation to keep the right hand going constantly. Great music can be made with the effective use of restraint, vibrato and silence.
Another effective approach to composition is the liberal use of both hammer ons and pull offs, particular while the right hand is resisting it's urge to play.
