Watch the Breakdown online guitar lesson by Richard Gilewitz from Fingerscapes

This slide exercise in Open C tuning is a good example of the effectiveness and available range in composition for slide when the right hand fingers are shifted from positions one to two and finally to three. Even though both the left and right hand finger movements are pretty much identical you can feel more of an actual tune developing due to these shifts. Two very important concepts with the slide appear on beat 2 of measures 2, 4 and 6 when a mute effect occurs to 'pop' the note and also on beat 4 in measures 2, 4, and 6 when the slide pulls back off the note in a lazy, descending and 'disappearing' manner.
