Watch the Breakdown online guitar lesson by Richard Gilewitz from Fingerscapes
In this riff or motif I am attempting to set a groove using the drop D tuning and the chords, D, G and A in various positions. There are also multiple elements of importance in this section regarding right hand positional shifts and right hand finger substitutions to avoid your right hand fingers tripping over themselves. You will notice, for example, in measure 7, the right hand must shift into the 3rd position to play the arpeggio in the lower register for effect. Also, there is a key right hand finger substitution on the 'and' of the 2 beat in measure 8 when the right hand 'i' finger plucks the note. This prevents the 'a' finger from repeating which is a common problem.
