Watch the The Blues Form online guitar lesson by Vicki Genfan from Acoustic Rhythm Survival Guide

This progression is used in ALL styles and genres of music. The example of the Beatles song, 'Why Don't we Do It In The Road' is a great example of using the I-IV-V in a rock context. The Bill Withers song, 'Ain't No Sunshine When She's Gone' uses the progression, but strays from the typical blues format. It's also in a minor key and all three chords are minor. In this example I'm adding the 7th and making them minor 7 chords.
