Watch the Percussion online guitar lesson by Vicki Genfan from Acoustic Rhythm Survival Guide
This example incorporates many of the techniques taught in my '3D Acoustic Guitar' course. Thumb slapping, body percussion and hammering on are the main techniques used, and if you have a good grasp of these, you should be able to play along with me!
If not, grab anything you can from the example and let yourself play... see where it takes you. Maybe you could play around with just the body percussion...even that will add something really unique to your rhythm guitar repertoire.
The 'tapping' that I do on the upbeat of the 2nd beat in each measure is actually a modified 'group tap'. I'm aiming for 12 frets away from my chord (to get the harmonics) and I'm using my middle finger to 'spank' strings 1-4. It's not exact, and I'm not getting pure harmonics since I'm actually fingering chords that have notes in various frets. BUT, I'm still getting some harmonic ringing, giving it a very distinct and unusual sound.
