Watch the Open Tunings online guitar lesson by Vicki Genfan from Acoustic Rhythm Survival Guide
Tune to C-G-D-G-C-D
E – down two whole steps to C
A – down one whole step to G
D – stays the same
G – stays the same
B – up one half step to C
E – down one whole step to D
Practice changing between chords the same way as with the standard tuning chords. Make sure you can play in time before increasing the tempo!
Make sure you can hear all the open strings, and you're not muting any of them accidentally with various parts of your left hand.
Try some additional 'hammer on's and pull off's. I've shown you a couple, but you may find other notes you like better.
TRY IT! So – record the first guitar part – OR play this part over the video of me playing the first part. See if you can hear all the different color tones. Play around, as I have, with different rhythms and picking/strumming patterns. See what works, see what you like. OR – have a buddy play one part and play together!! (This is ideal)
