Watch the Thumb Slap online guitar lesson by Peppino D'Agostino from Acoustic Poetica
You may notice that these very common chords used in this segment are played with a different left hand fingering to facilitate the changes. You should learn these chords using the left hand fingering that I'm suggesting on the chord diagrams in order to make things easier for you. As you play both exercises, please be aware that the first eight of the second and fourth beats are performed with the flesh of the r.h. thumb on the low E by gently "slapping" the string. Make sure not to slap the 6th string too hard and be conscious about the volume of this percussive sound.
