Watch the Right Hand Harmonic Tapping online guitar lesson by Vicki Genfan from 3D Acoustic Guitar
>> Right Hand Harmonic Tapping
- Single Note Tapping
- Use middle finger of right hand
- Whip like attack and release
- Tap directly ON the fret - take time to develop accuracy!
ATTACK (Touch) - How hard or light are you attacking the string?
LOCATION - Are you landing right on the fret?
RELEASE - Are you releasing immediately?
>> Group Tap - Can be less 'accurate'
- Use index, middle and ring fingers OR use just two of those fingers if your fingers are wider.
> Aim for 3 distinct 'groups'
-- high (1-3)
-- middle (2-4)
-- low (4-6)
It's worth taking the time to get bright, brilliant harmonics with the Right Hand tapping technique. It will become second nature and you won't have to think about it as we move forward. If you're lazy at this point, you won't really be taking advantage of the awesome sounds and inspiration that the harmonics can bring to your playing.
