Watch the Tweak the Sections online guitar lesson by Ravi from 1-2-3 Songwriting

We've got all these sections now, and they probably flow together pretty well since we've built one section in consideration of the others. However, there might be a few little tweaks that will make it even better. For example, you might need to let your sections breath a bit more by adding some kind of space. This could either be holding a chord at the end of a section, or introducing a section by vamping on the chord progression for four or eight bars before the vocals enter. Perhaps you need to alter a chord or two to increase interest or give the melody extra room or a lift. Or, maybe a note or two in the melody is making your vocal/lyrical phrasing sound forced or just unnatural in some way. This is the time to tweak the little things that solve whatever is bugging you. There is no reason to settle for something that gnaws at you because the gnawing only gets worse with time. You can of course tweak your song throughout the songwriting process, but this is a great time to focus on this. So start tweaking and check that off the check list!
