Here's the jazzy octave riff that Taj played on Strut, the E minor grooving blues tune from his 1993 album, Dancing The Blues. Taj plays these hard bop blues octaves a little different than most would by skipping two strings instead of just one. This technique not only tweaks the octave effect nicely but also helps ease transitions to position-related chords and riffs.
