Alphabet Soup Guitar Giveaway Clue #22 - To find today's letter you'll have to outrun the train to Music City!
This month we give you:
Kings of Tone
When times are rough, it’s only natural to want to go back to when the times
were better; return to the good ol’ days. This explains the immortality of
things like vintage cars, the U.S. constitution, Joan Rivers and our latest
video guitar course
Kings of Tone.
But no matter how bad things get, reliving the past is paradoxically impossible.
Yes, you can buy that 1981 BMW 325i, join the Libertarians, donate to the
American Society of Plastic Surgeons and even get your hands on a
vintage pedal or two, but none of that will change anything. Gas is over $3
a gallon, it’s not the 18th century, Botox never fools anyone and the last
vintage Strat I saw didn’t help the guy sound any better.
The only thing that looking to the past can give you is a review of all the
lessons that were learned. My dad once told me that if you’re going to try
something look at what all the people before you have already done and then try
to do it better. That’s what progress will get you – something better. But in a
strange way, progress can’t be achieved unless you’re familiar with what had to
come before it.
Of course there’s something that cannot be overlooked: driving that old beamer
is a helluvalotta fun, everyone’s entitled to their own beliefs, there’s nothing
wrong with trying to feel better about yourself, and what could be more awesome
than sounding like your favorite
guitar legend while belting out murderous licks with the volume cranked to
11? Nothing.
Just some of the legends you can learn to play like:
Larry Carlton,
Eric Johnson,
Johnny Winter,
Robin Trower,
Joe Walsh,
Rory Gallager,
Uli John Roth, and
Tommy Bolin.
Truth. Love. Music.
