Ok so I teased you guys a week or so ago.

My new guitar is here, It took a fair bit of research but I decided on a japanese LP clone from the early 80's.

I got a Burny RLG 90 all original from about 1982. I really wanted a nitro finish but this is thin poly. It's ageing nicely which is what I want.

Just a good look around the internet learning a bit about the MIJ clones and how they (especially early 80's) are better quality and much better value than current Gibson output.

I found this one at Japanguitars.co.uk, it's a hobbiest/Collector who sells as well, but is really knowledgeable and only gets good examples in.

Cost me 800 plus case, weighs 9Lb 4, non of this chambered malarky!!!!

That's the place, he's sold a good few Burny's in the last 3 weeks it seems.

Now I've got to wait another 5 hours to plug in and play this beauty

OK I was all nice and content with the flock at home, and now I'm nostalgic and jonesing for a knock off from my yoot! Dang it!

Congrats she looks like a beauty. I've not heard of that brand before, but if it's in the same class as the Tokais, it should be great. So is this considered your wedding gift?

:wow:Nice top!! Pretty lemonburst color too. I hear the Burny's are about the BEST Japanese made LP style guitar you can get. Congrats!!

Beautiful guitar.

Are you familiar with the My Les Paul website?
There is a great forum there about everything Les Paul.

Thanks Guys

I've had a play and she sound good, quite bright which surprised me. Need to get some new strings on her and something bigger than the 9s that I think are on there.

I think my Tele is only a little bit lighter so I shouldn't notice too much difference.

As for the Mylespaul forum, I'm resisting joining another guitar forum, as it could make for a quick divorce! She's already sick of me spending so much time here and on TGP!

But she is keen on me spending time practicing and recording

Nickel strings like Pyramids are a popular choice among cork sniffers for Les Pauls.
Pure nickel strings are not as bright as nickel plated steels. They last longer, make less wear on the frets, and are easier to bend. They should for some reason not be used on guitars with locking nuts.
Haven't tried them yet - but I read it on the Internet so it must be true :chatter:
