OLI BROWN

“one of the best and brightest guitar heroes performing in the world today”

CLASSIC ROCK

“a real talent and should have a great career”

JOE BONAMASSA

Late 2002 saw Oli pick up a guitar for the first time and just 2 ½ years later, at 15, he was invited to play in America as the guest of American Blues band Blinddog Smokin’, this first trip saw Oli open for Buddy Guy and Taj Mahal. Oli has been back to the States each Summer since that first trip.

In 2006, following suggestions from Carl Gustafson, the band leader of Blinddog Smokin’, Oli put together The Oli Brown Band and their first gig was March 2007 in Norwich.

2007 saw Oli record a live session for BBC Radio 2 (The Paul Jones Show) which received rave reviews.

2008 and Oli was signed to the German Blues label, Ruf Records, Thomas Ruf actually flew into the UK to see Oli perform and signed him there and then.

The debut album, OPEN ROAD, was recorded and released in 2008 and received great reviews from both the UK and Europe, was voted the Number 2, 2008, Blues album by readers of Blues Matters! magazine and, two years on, is still high in the Blues Charts.

Here’s what the press said about OPEN ROAD;
“has the Blues under his fingernails” Classic Rock
“a debut that lives up to expectations” Mojo
“the future of the Blues is evidently bright” Guitarist
“definitely one for the present as well as the future” Guitar and Bass
“a sparkling debut” Sunday Express

Oli was the ONLY UK act to be selected for the 2008 International Blues Convention in Memphis and whilst in Memphis was asked by John Fry (the owner of Ardent Studios) to go in and record a live session for them, this session received 1.3 million hits in three weeks.

2009 was a busy gigging year and a UK tour was put together in association with HMV, this tour had numerous sell out dates. Oli also gigged extensively in Europe with Ruf Record’s Blues Caravan.

Vanquish Guitars became an endorsee of Oli and now produce the Oli Brown Signature guitar (made to the specific requirements that Oli wants on stage), Hofner, Blackstar, Kustom, Ernie Ball, Whirlwind, T-Rex, Shure, Fender and Randystraps have also became endorsees.

2010 saw Oli back in the studio with the legendary producer, Mike Vernon (Fleetwood Mac, Eric Clapton, John Mayall) Mike actually came out of self imposed retirement to work with Oli, after seeing and hearing him on various You Tube videos.

The Mike Vernon produced album, HEADS I WIN TAILS YOU LOSE, was released 26 April 2010 in the UK and Europe (it will be released Stateside 13 July) and features 8 Oli Brown originals, 2 Oli Brown and Mike Vernon originals and 2 great covers (No Diggity and Fever)

Here’s what the press are saying about HEADS I WIN TAILS YOU LOSE;
“the hottest young pistol in British Blues” Mojo
“a British Bluesman to rival Trucks and Bonamassa” Uncut
“Brown’s fretwork really stuns” Classic Rock
“his singing voice is compelling” Guitarist
“the more you hear it the more you love it” Properganda

A further live session was recorded for Paul Jones, BBC Radio2, again receiving rave reviews.

During 2010 Oli will be gigging in Europe, the UK( in association with HMV and Planet Rock), headlining at Glastonbury on the newly added Blues and Jazz Stage, appearing at G-Taranaki in New Zealand (which is headlined by Slash), carrying out a short USA tour and, to round off the year, some selected UK dates including a hometown gig (Norwich)19 December.

2011 is starting to look like another exciting time, with gigs already booked in Europe and the UK and the engagement of a full time American booking agent.

Oli Brown is doing what he loves and this feeling is conveyed at every concert he performs at.

If you have not seen Oli Brown live, here are the comments from some people that have;
“Oli is MY hero” Walter Trout
“East Anglian whiz kid not to be missed” Paul Jones BBC, Radio 2
“Blues prodigy set to shake the British scene out of its slumber” Classic Rock
“Oli is the most promising Blues man to emerge from Britain for a long time” Blues Matters!
“more soulful and rhythmically creative than a Zulu war drummer” Elmore
“the real deal” Blues in Britain
“we would like Oli for future shows with Johnny Winter” Paul Nelson, Johnny Winter’s manager.
“let’s do it again!” The Fabulous Thunderbirds
“a great band, the BEST we have worked with” Devon Allman (son of Greg Allman)

That first video is just amazing from about 4:50 on he rocks the hell out of it (in a bluesy way):Totally_j

Checked him out a bit, kid has talent but his vocals aren't up to the level of his playing IMHO....I think that will come with age. He is young, a gifted player and musican, would love to see him play but I will hold off on the aye for now, I'm waffling a bit but I know he will only get better.
Serious thumbpick action!

Okay I listened to a few more videos....the lad is real good....AYE!

Great choice and welcome to the forums.
