Guitar Player, Only 16, Shreds Jason Becker Impressively

16-year-old guitar phenom Tina S., who hails from France, released her latest video on YouTube on Friday, September 4th in which she shreds Jason Becker’s song “Altitudes.” We gotta say… wow!

As you can see and hear, Tina has some real talent. She has done a few other truly impressive guitar covers in the past, including Eddie Van Halen and Yngwie Malmsteen, so this is no fluke. Other videos she has done include Metallica’s “Master Of Puppets”, Dragon Force’s “Through the Fire and Flames”, Steve Vai’s “Paganini 5th Caprice (Crossroads)”, and many others.

Even Jason Becker himself chimed in saying, “Wonderful playing, Tina! Thank you so much! I am honored!” We’d have to agree!

About the Guitar Phenom: Tina S.

Tina S Guitar PhenomTina, who has been playing the guitar since she was 6k, credits her love of guitar to female guitarists Ana Vidovic and Orianthi, her older brother and her teacher, French guitarist/composer Renaud Louis-Servais: “He was the one who genuinely gave me the tools to significantly improve my technique as well as my musical knowledge thanks to his sense of teaching, his motivation and his experience,” she says.

Given all the attention as a young 16-year-old girl who happens to be a guitar prodigy, Tina has even become somewhat of a spokesperson for women musicians against sexism. “These old prejudices will eventually disappear if we keep persevering and never surrendering,” she says. “To be a woman is by no means a weakness nor a shame but a strength.” More power to her! We support her and all female musicians, including our very own female educators.

You can see more guitar videos from Tina S. on her YouTube, Facebook, or Twitter. As of this post, Tina has almost 300,000 subscribers on YouTube, 163,000+ likes on facebook, and almost 10,000 followers on twitter. Needless to say, her playing has gained her some well-deserved popularity.

We can wait for her next video to be posted, and one can only wonder who she’ll choose. What guitar player or song would you like to see her cover next?
